KS3 Maths Clinic - Wednesdays 15:30 - 16:30 in R1
KS4 Maths Clinic - Tuesday lunchtime (13:00 - 13:45) in K6
KS5 Maths Clinic - Wednesday lunchtime (13:00 - 13:45) in D1
All KS3 classes cover the same schemes of work and use the same tests to allow for movement between groups, if needed. The main difference between sets is the pace of work and types of extensions available. There are three types of groups: Extended Plus, Extended and Core
In Extended Plus sets, students cover the same topics but use more challenging questions or competition materials to build a real fluency in a given area. They also progress at a faster rate through core topics.
In Core sets the pace of lessons is more suited to students’ needs. More time is spent consolidating core skills but still appropriate extension is available and built into lessons.
Our most able students have opportunities to participate in the UKMT Maths Challenges: Junior (Y7 - Y8), Intermediate (Y9 - Y11), Senior (Y12 - Y13)
All students in our Extended Plus classes receive weekly Parallelogram newsletter from Simon Singh packed full with fun maths packed and riddles. Interested? Ask your maths teacher for further details.
Parallel Circles are fantastic weekly Zoom sessions with maths personalities from UK - further details can be found here
Every year we offer our students the chance to attend an online or in person maths lecture(s) from well known maths celebrities such as Matt Parker, James Grime, Colin Wright and many others
This year our students will take part in the online maths conference: 'Maths in Action"
